In August 2011 Fergus began a four month residency (since extended) at The Museum of Arts and Design (“MAD”) in NYC. MAD focuses on contemporary creativity and the ways in which artists and designers from around the world transform materials through processes ranging from the artisanal to the digital.

The residency is part of the Open Studios program where visitors have the opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes view of the artistic practice and discuss processes, materials, and concepts with the artists.

Fergus is one of six artists currently in residence and the first puppeteer to be invited to take part in this prestigious program. Fergus was invited to extend his residency for a further four months and so will be working in the museum until March 2012.
